WATER IN POST-2015 AGENDA

Water plays a critical role in socio-economic development and vital for decreasing diseases and improving human health.

The Sustainable Development Goals set out water’s fundamental importance for human development and featured prominently environment and economy, related to water resources.

Global Institute for Water, Environment and Health is looking forward to invite researchers and students to work in this specific field, in order to come up with solutions and ways to achieve 2030 goals. Following are the proposed topics for research but are not limited to:

  • How can we achieve universal access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene?
  • Sustainable use and development of water resources “Case Studies”?
  • How countries can strengthen equitable, participatory and accountable water governance?
  • How effective international agreements are for water development in Post – 2015 agenda?
  • What are the most effective ways to encourage women’s participation to achieve Post – 2015 water resources agenda?
  • What investment mechanisms strengthen rural people's land rights and promote the diversification of food systems?
  • How can the direct and indirect contributions of urban agriculture be maximized to create more food secure and sustainable cities?
  • What innovations in small scale agriculture can be successfully transferred to large-scale agricultural production systems, and vice-versa?
  • What are the most cost-effective approaches of sustainably increasing the agriculture productivity and incomes of small-scale farmers?
  • Successful examples of agriculture which can be used to achieve Post – 2015 agenda in other countries?
  • What evidence is there of transferable good practices in balancing biodiversity and livelihood priorities?
  • What are the barriers to achieve water sustainability in Post – 2015 agenda?
