The 3rd International Conference on Water Resources and Environment (ICWRE), “Role of Governance in the Management of Water Resources and Environment,” was held at the Harrington Park Resort and Conference Center in Antalya, Turkey. GIWEH organized it in partnership with Akdeniz University, Antalya and the Ministry of Water Resources of Iraq. The three-day conference focused on water governance. The 112 participants, mainly researchers, students, professors, and members of NGOs, took part in discussions and presentations on issues such as regional cooperation, national water sector management, water pollution, and ground water management. Many of the participants came from Middle-Eastern, African, or Asian countries. As with the first two ICWREs, participants came up with a list of recommendations (to see the full list, see the report below) about how governments, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society should deal with water issues to reach effective water governance around the world.
